Our History
OUR HISTORY
Our history began with a few simple thoughts shared by the owners of Seaside Builders who scribbled some "shop talk" on a napkin one day over lunch. What started as a simple idea on how to contend with hard Jersey Shore weathering on their custom homes led to the formation of Railing Dynamics, Inc., the number one vinyl railing manufacturer in the US today. Incorporated in 1989, and now with over 100 employees based in New Jersey and a nationwide sales force of over 35, RDI remains the leading innovator of low-maintenance, easy to install, quality iron railings, deck lights, and building products.
In 1989 Andrew & Christopher Terrels became incorporated as Railing Dynamics, Inc., and launched their first patented railing system, Finyl Rail®, a custom manufactured non-corrosive, tubular structural vinyl railing. The demand for their low-maintenance vinyl railing systems grew quickly and customers demanded shorter lead times and more options. The solution was to offer vinyl systems in pre-cut lengths and pre-packaged with all the components a customer needed included in 1 box with easy to follow installation instructions. The resulting product, launched in 1999, was the Endurance® Original Rail system.
The Original Rail system provided all the components for a complete railing system conveniently packaged in one box. A complementary railing product to Endurance Original, Endurance Deck Rail was added in 2003, with additional baluster types and a decorative composite cap to add versatility and functionality to the top of the rail surface. As the line continued to grow, Endurance ADA compliant Hand Rail, newel and porch posts, post wraps, and several bracket and accessory choices for virtually any application were added as well.
In January 2008, with the changing economy in sight, RDI designed Titan Pro Rail®. An economical, low-maintenance system, Titan is an ADA-compliant metal system clad in vinyl. Titan's heavy duty cast aluminum brackets are pre-attached to the steel posts, enabling a Titan railing section to be assembled quickly and efficiently. The classic design of the top rail profile meets the International Residential Code for stair railings, eliminating the need for a secondary handrail.
In 2011 RDI released Endurance Porch Rail, adding a new style to the Endurance line. With its optional paintable top cap, several new baluster options, and copper and steel accents, the homeowner can now create unique styles with our porch railing to compliment virtually any style or décor.
